Wow! What a day. My God is an Awesome God.

I attended today's Day of Prayer & Fasting and was really uplifted.

See, I am unemployed and when you asked the unemployed to stand I stood up. Immediately the pastor in the back of the sanctuary, wearing a red shirt, came to me and asked my name. He and the ladies sitting near me prayed for me and I was filled. You then went on to the second group needing prayer and about this time my phone began to vibrate. I was thinking it was my daughter calling to be picked up from work early, so after we finished praying I stepped out into the lobby and checked my voicemail. That's when I realized that God is not only Good, but fast too.

I was laid off work in 2007 and could not get anyone to call me for work. So after becoming frustrated I decided to create my own job. So in 2009 my sisters and I opened a specialty chocolate store/cafe (The Chocolate Bar). Although it was a lot of work and I had to use my entire 401K (12 years of work), I was happier than I had been in years. Unfortunately, in July of this year we had to close, but I never gave up on the dream. We are working to get our website up and hoping to get into the food truck business before trying to open another retail store.

This is where the awesome power of prayer and faith comes in. About a week ago I received a call requesting information about our chocolate tasting parties. So I put together a proposal for our "Little Chocolatier" party for a little girls 10th birthday. Well, at the end of last week the mother sent me an email stating that she was going to do something on her own. What a bummer. Not so fast. The voicemail that I received today was the mother asking if we were still available. I was so excited that I had to listen to the voicemail again and then I wanted to run back into the sanctuary and tell everyone what had just happened. When I returned the call I even asked her if the message was from today. And with a smile in her voice she replied....It certainly was.

Praise the Lord. It's not a big one, but I have a job and it's what I love doing.

Thank you Pastor Dudley and Shepherd of the Hills for your prayers.
