For Men Only For Women Only

The next two weeks I will be preaching a sermon to the men in the church and then to the women. To be clear I want every one to hear both messages but I want to be up front that this coming weekend I will primarily be talking to men and the following week their counterparts.

We are living in a day and age where men are abandoning their God given role to lead. I want to challange the MEN in our CHURCH to step up to the "spiritual plate" and be willing to SEEK GOD with ALL THEIR HEART.

There are MANY things that would result if only our men became GODLY MEN.
Please join us this coming weekend. Bring your bible and a friend.

Today it was an honor to sit with our Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with a few of my preacher friends and discuss some spiritual matters. I do not want to go over all the details but we wanted to express some things in regards to the "Will of the People" and I actually got to pray over the Governor. My mind raced to the scripture that talks about how we are supposed to pray for those in authority over us. He has almost an impossible job and especially during these difficult economic times we need the hand of God leading us and watching over us.

Will you take a few minutes, right where you are, to pray for our President, our Governor and our Mayor. Pray for all of our elected officials that they would fear God and seek HIS advice and counsel. We are commissioned by God to pray for them and YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE by being faithful in this discipline.

Easter Greetings

Untitled from Call On Jesus on Vimeo.

We had close to 17000 in all of our services this past Easter. The tent had 8500 seats and we had two services there. Then over at the Wadsworth we had close to 700 and then all of our satelites had great crowds as well. It's always amazing how people will come to church on this particular weekend. But the question of the ages is why won't they come back THIS COMING SUNDAY. Well, I for one, am not going to give up on seeing that happen. I keep thinking one year that EVERY single person who attends Easter would truly turn their life over to Jesus and begin living form him EACH and EVERY day.

I want to thank the LORD for all the folks, staff and others who worked, served and gave of their time, talent and treasure. Shepherd is an amazing church and I am so honored to serve here along with you.

Easter Under the Tent 2009!

Our crew has been hard at work, and the Easter tent is up and ready for services on Sunday! To me, the big, white tent—this year spanning more than one acre—is always a special symbol of our church coming together to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As you’ve probably noticed, the tent is a little different this year… It is called a Clearspan Maxi-beam Structure. The tent we’ve used the past several years was a one-of-a-kind pole tent, the largest in the country… But because of its age and wear, and because traditional pole tents like it are less preferred to modern clearspan structures, the company who owned the tent destroyed it. One of the benefits of the new structure is that there are zero interior poles, which means no visual obstructions. There are even skylights!

The tent measures 360’ x 140’ and has a vertical height of 37’ at its apex. It took about four days to erect. Because there are no interior poles in the tent, all media equipment such as screens, speakers, and lighting must be “flown,” or clamped to the roof beams, with all wires and cables exiting the tent through the roof.

Riggers worked through the weekend so that the chairs could be set up this week. There will be 6,837 seats under the tent plus an additional 1,922 seats outside along the tent perimeter. To meet fire code, each chair must be strapped to another. Volunteer crews—including Vintage Ministry and staff kids—will be doing this throughout the week.

I hope you will join us UNDER THE TENT this Sunday and INVITE as many of your friends and family as possible for an awesome celebration with some amazing worship music and the message of the true meaning of Easter, the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
