Racial Diversity and Words of Encouragement

I spoke last night for an hour and another three hours this morning on the importance of racial diversity at the London Institute in Corona. Then I came home to finish my message for this weekend, where I will be outlining the direction of our church for 2009.

Just know that as I read through all the comments on my recent blog post that I was deeply moved and touched by all of your thoughts and prayers. I wish I was able to explain to you how encouraging YOU are to me and my family. The church is a family. And you are a part of my family. Your words and prayers are AMAZING.

So many thoughts, so many things that need to be said, but just know that God is still on the throne and that no matter what happens to any of us, that God will always sustain us. I know that God has never failed me, and when we look at all of life, we are the most blessed people on the earth.

My prayer for YOU is that God would comfort you the way he has comforted me. It really is a miracle that no matter what happens to us that God is able to turn it into good. Romans 8:28.

If we had to rely upon ourselves for peace and hope, then we would ALL be in trouble. But one only needs to read the last few chapters of Job to realize that God is all powerful and all knowing, and in HIM ALONE are we to trust.

I will see you this weekend, with a Bible and a friend. I am excited to share the plans for 2009.

LOVING YOU and LOVING GOD,
Pastor Dudley

Hi Pastor,

James 1:2-4. This too shall pass... but the love we have for you, Dallas and the Rutherford family will never diminish. Our love, respect and admiration for you and your family grows greater with each day that passes. You are such a blessing to us. We love you. We love your son. We love your daughter (both of them). We love your wife. We love Shepherd. We love Hillcrest. I've been a member for almost 10 years now, Keith for nearly 6, and we couldn't be more proud of you, your family and our church. We look forward to this weekend's service -- as always. It's our favorite way to end the week. James 1:2-4.

Hey Dudley,

You are certainly not alone. You are in our prayers! Don't let the bad stuff get you down!! When the devil comes at you, you know you are doing something right! Be strong.. Remember God never gives us more than we can handle.

Dear Pastor,

Your son will learn and be able to share a gift to others from this situation. He will reach others his age about falling, despair, forgiveness, healing, love, and triumph in Jesus. We just know it. Blessings will shower over your family again as we pray for your healing time with God. See you at service.

Dear Pastor Dudley--I'm excited about the 2009 schedule! It was wonderful to be there last night and hear all the plans for this year.

I just want to remind you that you and your family are in our prayers each & every day. We know there are stressful times ahead, but that the Lord will be there, as always, to uphold you. He never said it would be easy--just that He would hold us up. THANK GOD FOR HIS GRACE & MERCY!

This saying was attributed to Mother Teresa--I don't know if that's true, but here it is--"I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much." Don't we ALL feel like that sometimes?! Thank God for His son, who will help us carry every burden. We love you!

Pastor, your display of faith this past weekend was incredible and motivating. We have never been so proud of being a part of the Shepherd family.

The theme this year has our family exicted and looking forward to being futher connected to the TRUE vine. The reading plan and the calender you have blessed us with is great. You and Shepherd always seem to get it just right in all you do.

Our encouragement to you, Pastor, is to keep fighting the good fight! Keep running the race! Whether thats pastoring the flock that the Lord has given you, being a Godly husband, father, brother or son, or leading a line of motorcycles on a ride, continue your great faith in Christ. Your example is amazing.

Put on your armor General Rutherford. The Mead family is marching behind you.

Following you as you follow Jesus,
The Meads

Dear Pastor,
I was watching the Gaither Gospel Hour tonight and heard a beautiful song I haven't heard before. I love the old hymns and must admit that often a good song will minister to me more than a good sermon (no offense). I'd like to share the song with you.

Dudley, when you get a chance can you check out my blog at http://sothcaptainfreedom.blogspot.com/ I am using this blog to help others with witnessing. I want to let them know to not give up on others just as you and Marty did not give up on me. The Lord has never given up on us so why should we give up on ohters. I it just on my heart to reach out and share my testimony so that it might encourage others to step out in faith. Thank you for being an awesome vessel for the Holy Spirit to use in a mighty way.

God loves you Pastor Dudley and so do we the people of Shepherd of The Hills.
