EASTER 2008

I am still on cloud 9 after our Resurrection services. We had close to 16,000 people in all of our venues. We had so many people come to celebrate the fact that Jesus conquered the grave 2000 years ago. The sermon was on "Proof Beyond Dispute" and the highlight was the response at the invitation hymn. I wish EVERY SUNDAY that people came to church with the same expectation as they did on Easter. Our NEW campus in Lancaster had 200 people present and David Macer is going to do an incredible job leading this work. Our next campus will be in South Central and we need to be gearing up with prayer and support. I wanted to post some pictures from Easter 08. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooo exciting and thank you to ALL THE volunteers and the many who served behind the scenes. This is the GREATEST church in America... You are an amazing group of people......

EASTER SUNDAY!

I hope you’re as excited about Resurrection Sunday as I am! It’s always one of my favorite—and busiest—times of the year, and it is definitely all about Jesus! As we gear up for our Easter celebration this Sunday, I want to remind you that we are having THREE services:

8:30 a.m. @ our Porter Ranch campus
10:30 a.m. @ our Porter Ranch campus
12:00 p.m. @ our Westside campus

If you are coming to the main campus, please, please, please make an effort to come to the 8:30 a.m. service. The 10:30 a.m. service will be PACKED; is the time that most visitors will come, and we want them to get a seat!

Also, if you have friends and/or loved ones that live on the Westside, please invite them, pick them up, and take them to our service at noon at the Wadsworth Theatre. There will be a free, continental breakfast starting at 11:00 a.m. For more information, you can visit http://www.mywestsidechurch.com/.

Be sure to invite everyone you know, since Easter is such a great opportunity to share the power of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ with those who do not yet know Him. There will be free shuttles running to and from the church and a free continental breakfast at both of our campuses. I hope you, along with your family and friends, will join us for an awesome time of worship and a powerful message from the Gospel this Sunday!

The 1100-year-old Cross

Well, the cross is brand new, but the wood used to make the cross is more than 1000 years old... I hope you have had some time to stop and admire the beautiful new cross we have above the fireplace in our church lobby. It is such a powerful and moving representation of the signature of Jesus--His great love and sacrifice--and contains 23 biblical names for Christ.

The wood was purchased as a tree 10 years ago by Lisa Rollins of Signserely....up north, when it was still legal to do so, from trees that had already been determined to be cut. As they fall, a portion of the tree is damaged and shattered, so it is a gamble on how much of the tree will be kept in usable pieces. This last, single piece of wood has been in her parents’ barn for over 10 years drying and awaiting the perfect project. It is a California Redwood, and was about 20' wide by 90’ tall. These trees are now endangered, protected, and no longer available for purchase.

The letters for the 23 names of Jesus were sandblasted and the entire piece aged and stained. This cross is a one-of-a-kind creation--designed by our staff and produced by Lisa at Signserely.

Once again I look upon the cross where you died
I'm humbled by Your mercy and I'm broken inside
So once again I thank you
Once again I pour out my life
Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross, my friend

Thank You, Jesus!
