Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa

We had a wonderful service this past Sunday as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa stopped by to thank our church for caring for the 1100 evacuees from the Porter Ranch Fires. The Mayor was a very gracious man and he then proceeded to present to us a "certificate of recognition" and then I, in turn, gave our Mayor a Bible and prayed for him.

I then preached a message on Loving our Neighbor as Ourselves and talked about when living in L.A. that there are many people with many different convictions and that it was critical to stand on the word of God and yet be loving in the process.

I want to thank Paula Cracium for leading our staff and all the volunteers while serving our community this past week. It really was a tribute to the servant heart our church has to reach out into our community and simply meet people's needs. Please continue to pray for all the people who are still in need of assistance.

I am so grateful you gave the Mayor a Bible. A leader needs the leadership of God. The Mayor needs Jesus' leadership for this great city, his marraige and his own home. We needs leaders who are able to quote God's word and use it for public and private speech. Abraham Lincolm was such a man.
As President Lincoln said: “In regard to this Great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man’s welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it.” I pray the Mayor agrees with this one day.
