The Big Five-O!

As many of you know, I celebrated my fiftieth birthdday this past week. In our worship services this weekend, my family and staff embarrassed--I mean, SUPRISED me--with the above video, hahaha! I am thankful to God for this half a century He's allowed me to live, serve, and honor His mighty name, and I pray for 50 more to continue, along with you all, to reach this world for Jesus Christ!

Happy big Five-0 Pastor Dudley. Your burning passion to reach the lost is an inspiration to me and my family since we joined Shepherd in 2001. I myself am 9 years past 50 and enjoying every minute of it in Christ. Looking forward to 50 more years of your awesome preaching. God bless you...

Hey pastor this is off topic but I am in need of direction. I attend SOTH and have since I was 9 back when Pastor Moody was still here. I work at a desk job from 9 to 5 and often times I find myself bored and day dreaming. I usually stop working and start playing on the internet. Often times I end up on gossip sites, which are a complete waste of time. I just go there to laugh or pass time. Now this is my dilemma: what can I do during my down time to better serve the Lord? I have grown tired of those sites, they offer nothing and do no service or betterment of humanity at all. Do you have any suggestions?

Happy Birthday. I read this letter tonight, and it made me think of you...

by Dr. Bob Moorehead

In 1980 a young man from Rwanda was forced by his tribe to either renounce Christ or face certain death. He refused to renounce Christ, and he was killed on the spot. The night before he had written the following commitment which was found in his room:

“I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed, the die has been cast, I have stepped over the line, the decision has been made- I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed vision, worldly talking, cheap giving & dwarfed goals.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I won’t give up, shut up, let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up for the cause of Jesus Christ.

I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till everyone knows, work till He stops me & when He comes for His own, He will have no trouble recognizing me because my banner will have been clear.”

Wow! Happy belated birthday Pastor Dudley! I started attending services at Hillcrest in 1992 or 1993. You baptised me in 1994. I can't believe it's been about 15 years since then.

Time sure does fly by!
