Daddy's Little Girl

I love this picture. I took it this past summer while traveling in Portland, Oregon with my little girl, Kerri Brett Rutherford. She is ten years young and she is the apple of my eye. One of her teacher's named her Merry Kerri because she is always in a good mood. This picture was taken in the downtown area of Portland during a flower festival. LOOK at the COLOR of those flowers. Aren't you glad that God knew we would enjoy variety and beautiful colors? The background of these flowers only serves as a backdrop to the real beauty of my daughter. She loves the Lord with all of her heart and she told me the other day she is thinking about being the first woman President. Now THAT would be something! But whether she realizes that dream or not, my prayer for her is that she always keeps her eyes on the Lord and that she lives each day illuminating the joy and presense of God to the world around her. And in the same way those flowers brighten our day, her spirit and love for God will change the world around her.

Homecoming King, Queen...and the Jester

Homecoming King, Queen...and the Jester - Yes, I like to laugh and cut up from time to time... Last Saturday night was the Homecoming for Hillcrest Christian School. I had my picture taken with the King (Mitchell Ramos) and Queen (Alescia Penn). Do they look like movie stars or what????? I hate to reveal my age but I remember when both of them were babies and have watched them as they have become young adults. King Mitchell is wanting to be a minister and Queen Alescia has been active in our church her entire life.

Now as God would have it, two of my best friends in the whole world are their fathers... Marty Ramos (The King's father) and Dale Penn ( the Queen's father). Marty is my motorcycle buddy and he and I have ridden dirtbikes on almost every trail in Southern California. I do NOT know of a MAN in our church that has invited as many people to church as Marty has. Dale Penn has been in my LIFE group for 10 plus years and is currently serving as an Elder in our church. He has been a trusted advisor and spiritual counselor. I love both of these men for many reasons, but as I stood beside their children this past Saturday night at Homecoming I fully realized the extent of their Godliness. You see these children are mirrors of their parents. Marty and Christine Ramos and Dale and Karen Penn have faithfully raised their children in the ways of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Good children do NOT just fall off the tree. It takes a lifetime of modeling Christ to raise a King and a Queen. My deepest respect goes out to moms and dads who instill Christian qualities in the lives of their children.

I want to thank Hillcrest Christian School (www.HillcrestChristianSchool.org) for coming alongside moms and dads, helping us as we educate and raise our children in the ways of the Lord. I also want to thank Marty and Dale for being men of God who, along with their wives, have left a royal legacy. Lastly, I want to encourage King Mitchell and Queen Alescia to follow in the ways of their parents for the rest of their lives.... And Lord willing I, the Jester, will get to smile and laugh as I see Marty and Dale become grandparents--and possibly great-grandparents--in the next 20 years... Man you guys are getting old.... hehehahahahahehahhaha

REVIVE US AGAIN - UPDATE

Our Day of Prayer and Fasting has been a mountaintop experience. The Lord moved in a powerful way. Just about everyone who attended has conveyed how difficult it is to even find the words to express the events of the day. Seeing men and women praying and worshiping for an entire day and realizing that THIS is what the Lord truly desires from us..... We felt the presence of God coming into our midst as we poured out our hearts to the Lord. Michael North truly led us into a time of worship and the Family Life Center was where we felt the connection to the missionaries we support. Their was a special anointing upon the Western Wall and I cried over and over again as I saw people in Room 1 writing out there request for their unsaved friends and family members. People prayed on their prayer walks and touched every area of our ministry.

And all God's People said??????????? AMEN AND AMEN!

Again.. I want to thank EVERYONE who attended and everyone who participated. It was a day where we truly felt and experienced Revival. Let's continue to be people who call out to the name of the Lord our God.

May Revival reign in our hearts for ever and ever and ever.

In love,

Pastor Dudley

Getting Ready To Pray

It's now 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning and in a few hours our church is going to meet and pray from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is not just the beginning of Revival.... IT IS REVIVAL ! When God's people gather to pray and worship and turn from OUR ways and to SEEK HIS FACE. Will YOU please join us and if you are not able to join us, will you please be in prayer WITH US. If you need a verse.... It is II Chronicles 7:14. Look it up and then you will understand what we are doing and why we need YOUR HELP.

Smile :) Cardinals win first game of World Series

I think many of you know that my father raised me to root for the St. Louis Cardinals. We grew up in the Midwest and most people pull for the Cards or the Cubs. Dad actually took me out of school on several occasions where we would drive to St. Louis to catch a couple of ball games. This past week MY family and I were watching game 7 of the National League Series against the New York Mets, and it was interesting to watch my children cheer when the Red Birds won the game. I thought to myself.... "Isn't it interesting that their love for the Cardinals was something that I taught them in the same way my father taught me?" And then I had a far more convicting thought.... "I hope that they will ALSO have a love for Christ the way my father taught me to have." Why do we strive to teach our children so many trivial things when the essential matters of faith and devotion are so lacking? Please, God, allow me to be a father that teaches my children to have a love for You that will cause them to shout and cheer for the things of God.

Day of Prayer and Fasting - The Western Wall

I am soooooooo excited about Monday October 23rd. We have built an exact replica (1/3 scale) of the Western Wall out in front of our church. We are having an all-day event of prayer and fasting at our Porter Ranch Campus where we will be meeting from 8:00 am till 6:00 pm. We are going to fast, pray and worship the Lord God. This "Year of Prayer" has drawn many people into a deeper committed relationship to Jesus. Please accept my invitation to come join us this monday. I wll try to post more pictures later.

New Campus in West L.A.!

On October 8th, we launched a brand new campus in Brentwood, CA. Literally, hundreds of people came from all walks of life to join us for our grand opening. I am happy to announce that we had 1100 people in total attendance. There were many people who came up to me afterwards and expressed thankfulness because they had been praying for years for a church like Shepherd to be on the Westside. I will write more later concerning this campus. In the meantime, visit www.mywestsidechurch.com and I will see you this Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Wadsworth Theatre!
